Born in 1978, Ethan spent the first two years of his life living at a Buddhist meditation center in Vermont, where his father was the director. He grew up in New York City. Allen Ginsberg gave him his first poetry lesson when he was nine. He went to "progressive" private schools, but he doesn't know what that word even means. He went to college but he didn't really like it. He lives in New York, where he practices, studies, and now teaches meditation and Buddhist studies. His first book, Declaration of Interdependence (Wisdom Publications, Spring 2007), is about bringing Buddhist teachings into the 21st century world. He is very very very honored and proud to be involved with Sacred Slam.
